To be honest, I am not familiar with the history of Australia or New Zealand, and I tried those biscuits only a few weeks ago, even though I have the recipe for at least a few years. I was constantly skipping it for some reason until I decided it's time to finally do it. I was very skeptical about the final result when I saw how the dough looked like as it was too crumbly, but once the first batch was baked I was sure it is perfect! The cookies were so delicious, with a crispy outer layer and with so many different textures inside and a real explosion of flavors with each bite. Those reminded me of some energy bars and also stayed fresh and soft for quite a long time so those could be some of the reasons why those cookies were sent to the ANZAC.
'm not really sure how many cookies did I get out of those ingredients, but I think there were about 50 pieces, which means the recipe is quite generous. And here's what you'll need:
