When it comes to the taste, it's very similar to traditional Gugelhupf or Marble Cake, but with a softer texture and easier preparation.
I've found a suchlike recipe called "Speedy Gonzales", named after the world-famous cute cartoon mouse, as it's prepared that fast, believe it or not! After doing some research, I discovered that the recipe starts the same way, but the final result is something that is completely different of this Quarter Cake, both by taste and texture. So, the Speedy Gonzales will be the subject of some further post...
Let's get back to the Quarter Cake now! These are the ingredients you'll need:

- Put eggs and sugar in a bowl and mix using a hand mixer, until sugar melts completely and the combo becomes pale yellow and thick, with almost a tripled volume.
- Add milk and oil and combine, using the lowest speed of the mixer.
- Combine flour and baking powder and gradually add it to the eggs mixture while keeping the mixer at the lowest speed. Make sure the flour is perfectly mixed in, without lumps.
- Lightly grease and flour the baking pan. I used a round ⌀26cm pan for this quantity of ingredients.
Pour 3/4 of the batter into the pan (here are the quarters again... :) ). - Add cocoa powder into the remaining 1/4 of the batter and combine using a spoon. Pour the brown batter into the pan with circular moves, forming irregular patterns. It will look something like this...
Let it cool completely and then cut into pieces at your convenience. Sprinkle each piece of cake with powdered sugar, if desired.
