When you adjoin the slightly sweet tone of cornmeal, the nutty flavor given by poppy seed and the well-known diverse sweet-and-hot earthy curry, you'll get a bread with a specific and strong flavor, which cannot be used with any dish or spread. As a matter of fact, it would be best to serve it with some neutral or sourish soup, stew or spread.
Just as the four different bread recipes I posted on my blog (Wheat, Cocoa, Finesse and Roll Bread), this one is also perfect for freezing once baked and cooled, so you can easily store it for some other time if you have some leftovers or you simply want to bake some in advance.
The recipe itself is very straightforward and even beginners in baking can make a perfect bread. Dough raises really fast, which makes it suitable for those days when you need some quick homemade bread. Besides, it's so easy to work with, and ingredients are common and inexpensive, so you should absolutely give it a try!
And here's what you'll need:
Note: I used a 200 ml cup. |
|
- In a bowl, combine all dry ingredients.
2. Make a hole in the middle of the flour mixture and pour yogurt in. Add 50 ml of lukewarm water and start kneading by gradually adding some more water, a spoonful at a time, until you get a smooth, medium-hard dough that won't stick to your fingers or to the bowl.
3. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel or a plastic bag and let the dough rise until it doubles its volume.
As I said, this dough rises really fast due to the "united forces" of yeast and baking powder, but if you want to speed up rising process even more, check out some hints in this post. |
6. Take it out from the pan and let it cool completely before serving.
Enjoy and bon appétit!
