I think there is one more reason you'll like those bars - the recipe is calling for an ingredient which is a staple, but yet so totally uncommon when it comes to desserts: boiled potatoes! Yes, you've read it right... You'll need boiled potatoes to make those candies! And let's now see what else you'll need:
for the icing:
- Boil potatoes until soft and tender. Drain and mash them.
- Add chopped butter, sugar and crushed chocolate into the bowl with potatoes, while they're still hot and whisk until everything has melted and the mixture has become homogenized. Then, stir in cocoa powder and rum. You can add more rum if you want to get a more intense flavor.
- Add minced biscuits and knead with your hands to get a homogeneous "dough". The mixture has cooled by now, so it won't be a problem to knead it.
4. Spread the mixture into a square or rectangular pan. There's no need for greasing it. Press with your hands to fill any possible hollow.
5. Prepare the icing: put chocolate, oil and cream into a small bowl and heat it for 20-30 seconds in the microwave or over a pot with boiling water, until chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth. Stir in rum, if using any. Spread the icing on the top of the rum mixture and put it into the fridge for 10-15 minutes to firm up a bit and become suitable for cutting. |
I got approx. 70 bars (3x3 cm) out of these ingredients.
Enjoy and bon appétit!
