Maybe you've tried so far some of my stale bread recipes and enjoyed some muffins or the unusual pizza. But it often happens that we have some leftover stale bread, at least at our home, so we can never get enough of interesting recipes like this one! And this one is absolutely cool! You ask why? Well, just take a look at the ingredients and the prep, and you'll understand what I am talking about...
You'll need the following to make an Ø26cm pie:

Directions:
- Chop leek and ham or bacon. Grate the cheese.
- Pour oil into a pan and add ham/bacon. Cook until crispy and take it out using a slotted spoon. Set aside to cool a bit. If you're using bacon, there's no need to use oil.
- Now, add leeks into the same fat, season with a pinch of salt, and cook until soft. Let it cool slightly.
- Beat the eggs using a fork or a whisk. Add some salt and pepper, sour cream and mix until homogenized. Then, add grated cheese, chives and lukewarm ham/bacon and leeks. Stir well. This is the filling for the pie.
- Now, it's time for the "crust". Put wine into a wide bowl or a plate and slide each piece of bread past the wine. So, do not dip the bread into the wine, just let them touch shortly. Arrange pieces of bread into a lightly greased baking pan, leaving no space between them.
You can use any type of bread you have. Naturally, the amount of wine needed, as well as the taste of the dish will vary depending on the bread you've used. - Spread the filling evenly on the top of the bread and bake into a preheated oven at 200°C until browned.
It can be served plain, but I would warmly recommend you serve it with sour cream, yogurt, or some simple and refreshing tomato salad.
Enjoy and bon appétit!
