Its preparation is easy and relatively quick, which makes it ideal for visitors at short notice and for the moments when you don't really feel like cooking...

Beat eggs and sugar with a hand mixer, until the mixture thickens and triples its volume.
3. In a separate bowl combine semolina, flour and baking powder. Gradually stir it into the eggs mixture. You should get a homogeneous batter.
4. Grease well a baking pan and sprinkle it with flour. I'm using a 26cm round baking pan for this quantity of ingredients.
Pour the batter into the pan and bake into a preheated oven at 200°C for 7-8 minutes, or until it's golden brown on the top and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
5. Take the cake out from the oven and pour with cooled syrup evenly. The cake will "swim" in syrup at first, and you'll see how it soaks the syrup a few seconds later.
Set aside for an hour or so to cool. Then cut it into pieces at your convenience.
